Andy and Ann Merriwether have owned alpacas since 2001. We specialize in grey, black and multi-colored alpacas. Andy is a geneticist at BInghamton University, and Ann is a Psychology professor there. Andy has published many scientific papers and articles on alpaca genetics, disease and evolution. Andy served on the Board of Directors for the Alpaca Registry Inc, and was a founding board member of the Alpaca Owners association, serving over 12 years between the two boards. Ann served on the Board of Directors of the Cornell Cooperative Extension for Broome County.
We ran the Alpaca-Pac 4H club for 12 years, with many of dozens of kids passing though our program learning how to handle, care for, and show alpacas as well as learning how make things from alpaca and sheeps wool. Our 4H-ers participated in many alpaca performance shows. Now, as Collegiate Professor for College in the Woods at Binghamton University, Andy brings alpacas to campus over a dozen times a year, and hosts an alpaca Costume show every year.
We have found that raising alpacas are a great way to raise your human kids. So if you want alpacas to breed, or to show, or for their fiber (wool), or just for fun, we have alpacas that would be perfect for you. GIve us a call or email us.
